Hydrophobia
Shani Kantor presents
–About Hydrophobia
Two unlikely strangers are drawn together on an unsuspecting night. Against all odds - and their own better judgement - their lives intertwine. In their unknowing pursuit of community, our strangers begin to find themselves as they are drawn together - and are faced with the reality of what it costs to belong.
Hydrophobia is a dance theatre show exploring how the absence of community increases our desire to find it. Diving into 2010’s Essex, watch as two people are both compelled by each other and torn apart by the world they equally want to belong to and subvert, in order to exist.
This contemporary story, littered with nostalgic pop culture, is told through a queer, working-class lens.
